I was in a situation a couple of times where it wanted me to delete older backups to make room for new ones. The software that you use to create the backups should allow you to configure the way the backups are created. This is the simplest way to manage the storage device on the external hard drive. If you manually delete a file that isn't supposed to be deleted, then all your backups might be in danger, therefore I do not recommend this solution.
Start the software, then go to the Help section to read about the way the software handles the backups.
To open your backup files on your new computer, you will need to use Fabrik Ultimate Backup to restore them.
